Sugeily Rivera-Suazo

 

 

BA Psychology, University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras CampusMSW Social Work with a concentration in Family and Individual Intervention, University of Puerto Rico School of Social Work, Río Piedras Campus Under Diversity-Promoting Drug Abuse Research Program (DIDARP) at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, Sugeily Rivera-Suazo has been involved since 2010 in stigma-related research within substance use disorders (SUD) services sector. Her work as part of the research team, has involved assessing the role of stigma towards drug users among health care providers; exploring drug treatment experiences within patients in drug treatment, and more recently, she has begun working with internalized stigma in people living with HIV/AIDS and SUD in a project led by Dr. Coralee Pérez. Her thesis work explored needs for community reintegration of Puerto Rican inmates with mental health problems, including SUD.
